To adapt to the growing population at the southern part of the county, this library was designed as a landmark destination. A clock tower anchors a winding path that leads patrons through the library and allows for a welcoming passage while experiencing major components of the library. The building surrounds a landscaped courtyard with a large whimsical, grass-covered “book.” Sloping glass allows direct views into the library, providing natural light, while shading patrons from direct sun. A drive-through window was designed so that staff could conveniently service both the interior and on-the-go patrons. Geothermal heating and cooling were utilized, as well as energy-efficient lighting.
